Branded review link

A branded review link is a short URL on a memorable domain — biglove.to/your-cafe instead of a 90-character Google URL — that redirects straight to a business's review form. Its job is physical and verbal distribution: short enough to print on a 2.5-inch thermal receipt, simple enough to say out loud to a customer at the counter, and stable enough to keep on signage for years while the destination behind it stays editable. A compliant branded review link is a thin redirect: it points at the canonical review form with no rating filter, feedback screen, or data capture between the customer and the review.

In practice

What it means for a local business.

The test that matters is the sayable test: can a member of staff tell a customer the link in a passing conversation, and can that customer remember it until they sit down? Generic shortener domains (bit.ly/3xK9vQz, flyn.to/x7b2) fail it — the slug is noise. A branded review link is chosen, not generated: the business name is the slug.

Branded review links differ from general-purpose link shorteners in what they know. A generic shortener will happily shorten any URL, including the wrong one; a review-specific tool resolves the canonical review form from the business listing, keeps the compliance posture in the product's shape (no gating screens to configure, because none exist), and treats the QR card as a first-class output rather than an add-on.
