Local review rankings — 350 leaderboards.

We pulled the top-rated local businesses — restaurants, hair salons, coffee shops, dentists, gyms, plumbers, bars — in 50 anglo cities from Google Places and ranked each list by review count and average rating. How we rank

Methodology in one paragraph.

For each (vertical, city) pair we run a Google Places Text Search biased to the city centroid (“top restaurants in New York City”, etc.), keep the top 10 results, then re-sort by rating descending with a tie-break of review count descending. Entries without a numeric rating sort last. Data refreshes quarterly. The full dataset is also available as a single JSON file under CC-BY-4.0 if you want to cite or remix it.
